The Australian Labradoodle was created and further developed with a definite purpose in mind, to be a Guide Dog for people who are allergic to other dog breeds.
The history of the Australian Labradoodle began in Australia in 1988. The first litter was bred by a gentlemen who worked with the Guide Dog Association in Melbourne.
A lady in Hawaii had requested a Guide Dog which would not aggravate her husband's allergies.
The first litter produced only three puppies. Samples of hair and saliva were sent to Hawaii and the samples from one of the three puppies was successful.

It is very important to know even though Labradoodles are 98% allergy and asthma friendly, but your puppy/dog will be exposed to so many allergen such as house dust, pollen, other dog breeds' hair, etc...
If you have seasonal allergies such as Hay fever, please wipe your puppy/dog's body with wet cloth to remove all the allergens, so that your labradoodle won't trigger your allergy symptoms.
